IFAF has decided that the Danish American Football Federation (DAFF) is to host the IFAF Flag Football European Championship 2017. The Tournament will be played in Copenhagen at Valby Stadium from August 31st to September 3rd 2017.

Both of our National teams (men and Women) will participate in the championship.

It is the first time DAFF hosts a European Flag Football Championship, but the Federation has hosted several American Football Tournaments and the federation is hosting the U19 EC in football

in July as well as the U17 NC in football in October. A group of volunteers from the Danish Flag Football community also hosted the Champions Bowl in 2016. “Denmark are the defending European Champions and a natural choice as hosts. When the Czech Association informed us they wouldn’t host the venue, we contacted all the European Federations, and Denmark was the strongest candidate”, says IFAF president Richard McLearn.

The decision to have the Championship in Copenhagen has already be announced to the European IFAF Nations. The following nations has announced their participation and more have shown interest:

Men:

Denmark (defending champions), Israel (4), Great Britain (7), Sweden (11)

Women:

Israel (4), Denmark (5), Great Britain (8), Sweden

Winners of the IFAF Flag Football European Championship 2017 will qualify for next year’s World Championship, where the qualifying European Nations will play nations like USA, Canada, Mexico and Panama.
